Nextech is celebrating Computer Science Education Week in a big way this year with the launch of Nextech Navigate, a brand new computer science conference for Hoosier high school students. All students are welcome regardless of computer science class enrollment and type of school they attend. Taking place on December 8, 2020, this free virtual field trip for 9-12 graders is built to educate and inspire high school students about the power of computer science and careers in technology. Navigate 2020 will include a keynote and various educational sessions that give students the power to choose the CS topics that interest them the most.
This conference is for students in grades 9-12, preferably in Indiana. All students are welcome from public, private, charter or home high schools and do not need to be enrolled in a computer science class. Per any traditional field trip, students will need administrator approval before registering to attend. If we can help there (or you need specific information), please email navigate@nextech.org.
Nextech Navigate will be on Hopin, an awesome online event platform. In order to ensure your student can attend, please have your IT department whitelist the following: https://support.hopin.to/en/articles/4300282-network-connectivity-settings
It will be a full day, which will elapse the majority of the school day. We will begin at 9 A.M. EST with an opening presentation and keynote. From there, the day will move into breakout sessions where a student will be able to select the sessions that interest them most. We will end at 2 P.M. EST after an inspirational closing keynote. There will be a planned break for lunch.
Students can attend from school, home or anywhere with strong wifi and access to a computer. Each student will need to attend on their individual device in order to participate in their selected breakouts and will be given an individual invitation.
Nope, it is absolutely free to attend. No cost to the student, teacher or school.
The content for the day will be tailored for high school students, but teachers will enjoy it as well. After the event, we will be able to share granular tracking data to each teacher letting you know where and what your students attended.
