Nextech Navigate logo

In 2020, 552 Hoosier high schools students across 25 schools from across the state joined us for our first Nextech Navigate. This one-day computer science conference exclusively for Indiana’s high school students featured 37 speakers across 24 sessions. We are pleased to announce that Nextech Navigate is back for 2021!

Taking place on November 17, 2021, this free virtual field trip for 9-12 graders is built to educate and inspire high school students about the power of computer science and careers in technology. Navigate 2021 will include an inspiring opening and tons of educational sessions that give students the power to choose the CS topics that interest them the most. All Indiana high school students are welcome regardless of computer science class enrollment and type of school they attend.

We can’t wait to host a jam-packed day. Until then, mark your calendar for Navigate 2021 on November 17!

This conference is for students in grades 9-12, preferably in Indiana. All students are welcome from public, private, charter or home high schools and do not need to be enrolled in a computer science class. Per any traditional field trip, students will need administrator approval before registering to attend. We are in the process of finalizing the 2021 agenda, and it will be available by November 1. If helpful, the 2020 agenda can be found here. If you need specific information to gain administration approval, please email navigate@nextech.org.
  • Teachers are required to register their students to attend. The registration process is an easy two-step process:
    • Step 1: Teachers will register their students anytime before November 1, 2021.
    • Step 2: Once the registration is complete, Nextech will send the teacher a spreadsheet to fill out, which will include providing the first names, last names and email addresses of their students.
  • During the week of November 8th, each student will receive an invitation for Nextech Navigate 2021 in their inbox. It will include a unique “magic link” that the student will need to use to access the conference. We ask that all teachers do a test run for their students before the event to ensure that students received their invitation for the conference.
Nextech Navigate will be on Hopin, an awesome online event platform. In order to ensure your student can attend, please have your IT department whitelist the following: https://hopin.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360056528911
It will be a full day, which will elapse the majority of the school day. We will begin at 9 A.M. EST with an opening presentation and convocation. From there, the day will move into breakout sessions where a student will be able to select the sessions that interest them most. We will end at 2 P.M. EST. There will be a planned break for lunch.
Students can attend from school, home or anywhere with strong wifi and access to a computer. Each student will need to attend on their individual device in order to participate in their selected breakouts and will be given an individual invitation.

Nope, it is absolutely free to attend. No cost to the student, teacher or school.

The content for the day will be tailored for high school students, but teachers will enjoy it as well. After the event, we will be able to share granular tracking data to each teacher letting you know where and what your students attended.
We will provide lesson plans for before, after, and during Navigate for you to use with your students. They will be shared closer to the date of the conference.
