This Open Mic Night series explores AI current events and emerging trends related to AI. Participants will engage in informal, discussion-based conversations about topics such as autonomous vehicles, facial recognition technology, AI-powered everyday tools, and the ethical and societal implications of these innovations. Sessions are intentionally low-pressure and conversation-driven—no preparation, only enthusiastic participation required.
Event Details
Intended Audience
Open mic nights are open to educators of all grade levels, subject areas, and experience levels. Conversations are designed to be open, inclusive, and accessible to participants with a wide range of backgrounds and knowledge of AI. Open mic night sessions provide a supportive space to share ideas, ask questions, and explore different perspectives. Discussions are not guaranteed to be differentiated by grade band, instead will focus on topics relevant across educational contexts.
Session Details
AI Current Events Open Mic Nights will have four, virtual sessions on Zoom.
- August 18, 2026 from 8:00-9:00 PM ET
- October 13, 2026 from 8:00-9:00 PM ET
- January 19, 2027 from 8:00-9:00 PM ET
- April 20, 2027 from 8:00-9:00 PM ET
You are not required to attend all of the sessions. Attend one or the entire series. You can drop in (just like an Open Mic Night) when they work on your schedule.
PGPs & Swag
Workshop attendees will receive 1 PGP point per session (unless we go over time and we’ll extend as needed).
Each session is eligible for CSPDWeek Continuing Education credits, though they are open to all educators, not just CSPDWeek participants.
We’ll be tracking your attendance on a virtual, open mic “punch card.” For each session you attend (across the entire Open Mic Series, not just this topic), you will receive credit for one session. The more sessions you attend, the more swag you can earn! At the end of the school year, we’ll mail swag packages to each Indiana attendee based on the number of attended sessions. You must attend a minimum of three to be eligible. Details and incentive levels will be shared at each session.
Other Open Mic Series topics can be found here.
