Born and raised in Indiana, Andrew Thayer is a seasoned finance and strategy leader with a track record of driving growth, innovation and transformation in the corporate world. Through professional and personal opportunities, he has also dedicated time to supporting central Indiana non-profits. He earned his degree in Economics from DePauw University before launching his career in the aviation industry and then into the software industry.

Andrew spent six years at ATA Airlines in Indianapolis as part of the Strategic Planning finance team, where he played a key role in managing the airline’s financial business model. At its peak, ATA generated $1.5 billion in annual revenue and ranked among the top 10 domestic carriers, operating both commercial and military charters. His responsibilities spanned route profitability analysis, corporate finance initiatives and high-impact projects such as bond restructuring, private equity financing and bankruptcy reorganization.

For the past 17 years, Andrew has been a driving force within Salesforce’s Finance & Strategy (F&S) team, joining the company through its acquisition of ExactTarget. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in ExactTarget’s growth, securing multiple rounds of venture capital funding, supporting the company through a successful IPO in 2012 and driving the financial modeling for six strategic acquisitions that expanded product offerings and international reach—culminating in its $2.5 billion acquisition by Salesforce in 2013. At Salesforce, Andrew has served as a finance business partner across multiple functions and currently leads finance technology initiatives, including their Snowflake data platform, Tableau visualization tool, Cloud ERP and EPM solutions. He also heads the Finance Data Office where he spearheads the AI + Data strategy for the Finance organization’s multi-year roadmap representing over 2,000 finance employees.  This effort includes utilizing Salesforce tools as well as third party applications to support the 170 AI project submissions from Finance employees.  Andrew also sits on Salesforce’s Indy Site Council composed of senior leaders from each function representing Indy employees and partnering with city/state officials, local businesses and non-profits.

Beyond his professional achievements, Andrew is deeply committed to community service. He has chaired the board of an 80-student preschool, actively supports local food banks and homeless shelters, partners with Junior Achievement, sponsors an IPS elementary school and serves as the Executive Sponsor for Salesforce’s Employee Impact Council.  This council provides funding and volunteer opportunities to non-profits in the central Indiana area. He lives in Zionsville, Indiana, with his wife, Heidi, and their two children. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching and watching youth sports.
