CSforGood Competition

Celebrating and recognizing the unbridled imagination of primary and secondary students across the state, the Nextech CSforGood Fall Competition challenges K-12 Hoosier students to innovate, create and build positive change in their schools and local communities.
The Nextech CSforGood Competition challenges K-12 Hoosier students to innovate, create and build positive change in their schools and local communities. Working with a teacher sponsor, teams of 2-6 students across three divisions: elementary (K-5), middle (6-8) and high (9-12) school, will submit a technology project — either a software application, website, physical computing device or prototype (digital or paper) — that they created to demonstrate how computer science can be used for good when applied to real problems that affect their schools and communities.
The top teams from each division will be invited to the Nextech CSforGood Celebration on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis. The finalists will showcase their projects, along with how they honed their problem solving, teamwork and CS skills, to a panel of judges, legislators, policy leaders, influencers and the tech community.
Winning team(s) per division will be announced at the end of the event. Each of the winning team members will be awarded a cash prize ($200, $100, and $50 for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place), and teacher sponsors will receive $1,000 to go towards tech for their classrooms. High school winners will also get an additional opportunity to work on and pitch their business ideas; more info below.
All CSforGood Submissions are due by November 3, 2025.

Solution Name: Class Check Location App
Student Description: Our project is an attendance and location app for students and teachers to use in schools. Our school has many opportunities for students outside of their classroom like kindergarten helpers, announcements, speech, therapies, library helpers, lunch helpers, recess buddies, reading and math small groups, book buddies, etc. We love all of these clubs but it can be a problem to find students during the day. We know how important it is for our teachers to know where we are at school. This app helps locate students quickly by scanning their student ID in their classroom or area that they are in like the cafeteria or library.
