Topics in Computer Science

Overview

NLPS 7351 Topics in Computer Science is designed for students to investigate emerging disciplines within the field of computer science. Students will use foundational knowledge from Principles of Computing (NLPS 7183) to study the areas of data science, artificial intelligence, app/game development and security. Students will utilize knowledge related to these areas and programming skills to develop solutions to authentic problems.

Nextech’s Topics in Computer Science professional development helps teachers review various curricular options for each of the four study areas and time to review the resources and develop a plan for teaching the course in the coming school year.

Eligibility and Pre-Requisites

This workshop is for high school teachers committed to teaching the NLPS Topics in Computer Science (7351) in the 2025-26 school year.

  • Length: Two days of virtual professional development.
  • Location: Virtual
  • Cost to Participate: $0
  • Dates: Wednesday, June 25, 2025 and Thursday, June 26, 2025; 9:30AM – 3:00PM EST (with breaks for lunch and individual exploration time)
