AI Current Events

Overview

This Professional Learning Community explores the rapidly evolving world of artificial intelligence through the lens of current events and emerging technologies. Topics may include autonomous robots and self-driving cars, facial recognition systems, everyday AI-powered tools such as smart appliances and lawn mowers, and the broader societal impacts and ethical considerations of these innovations. Educators from all grade levels, subjects, and experience levels are welcome to participate. Participants of the PLC are asked to contribute to a shared collection of classroom activities and discussion resources that help students critically examine how AI is shaping the world around them. 

Eligibility and Pre-Requisites

This PLC is open to all teachers from all grade levels, subject areas, and experience levels, educators will be divided into grade band breakouts to allow for more specific conversation. As a prerequisite, teachers are asked to come prepared with one artifact document AI in the real world that they would like to refine into a classroom ready activity through the work of this PLC.

Workshop Details

  • Length: Three, 1 hour school year meetings (1 – Fall 2025, 2 – Spring 2026)
  • Location: Virtual zoom
  • Cost to Participate: $0

    • Kick-off Meeting: Monday, January 12, 2026 8:00-9:00PM ET
