Beyond Code.org: micro:bit

PD for Elementary and Middle School CS

This workshop is intended for elementary and middle school educators who are wondering “what’s next?” after teaching the Code.org CS Fundamentals Courses E, F and/or Express. Teachers will participate in a hands-on experience learning the capabilities of the micro:bit and how to integrate using it in their CS Fundamentals classroom. Additionally, educators will learn about other free curricula to expand usage of the micro:bit in their classrooms.

The topics covered in each workshop include:

  • Learn definitions for physical computing, computational thinking, and computer science education
  • Understand the importance of physical computing and coding
  • Exploring the micro:bit and learning about all it’s capabilities
  • Learning about all available micro:bit resources
  • Diving deeper into the CS Fundamentals extension lessons developed by micro:bit
  • Exploring other micro:bit lesson plans, curricula and extensions
