Vickie Houlihan is an experienced K-12 teacher, having been in the classroom for 12 years.  Although she has taught several technology courses in the past (Infrastructure of the Internet, Networking I, Routers and Switches and Computer Security), Vickie is taking a new challenge for the 2017-18 school year  – Computer Science.  Vickie is participating in Nextech’s professional development to teach AP Computer Science Principles at Heartland Career Center.

In addition to a love for technology, Vickie enjoys weaving baskets and loves the 4th of July.  Read below to learn more about our her.

Hidden Figures.  These women were in the background doing their jobs, but were not recognized for all of their knowledge and training. Sometime I like to be in the background doing the work and not being in the fame or the lime light.

What has been your favorite memory of working with Nextech?

The Externship enriched my life with simple Computer Science concepts to pass along to my students of tomorrow. It allowed me to connect with industries in Indianapolis to offer field trips for the students to see start up companies, data centers, and different careers in the computer science field.
