A High School Student Focused on #WhatsNext
We’d like to introduce you to Nextech Catapult Daniel, one of 16 Central Indiana juniors and seniors who embarked on a yearlong journey with us to turn their passion for technology into a career path. We asked Daniel about computer science, his plans for the future and his summer experience in Catapult.
Nextech: Tell us about yourself, Daniel.
Daniel: I am a senior at Arsenal Tech High School. I like to wrestle, play soccer and videos games. I’m also passionate about technology.
Nextech: Speaking of video games, what are some of your favs?
Daniel: NBA, Uncharted, FIFA, Battlefield, Call of Duty and GTA
Nextech: Why are you interested in computer science and coding?
Daniel: Coding and computer science impact the world in so many areas. Now days, to make a product or technology function requires a program and coding. I love technology and am passionate about learning new things because I know technology can change the world.
Nextech: What would you like to do after high school?
Daniel: Pursue a career in computer science. I want to use or create technology to impact the world in a positive way.
Nextech: What did you learn through Catapult this summer?
Nextech: Tell us what you enjoyed most about the summer experience.
Daniel: Design thinking taught us how to solve problems creatively and empower people…don’t just give them an absolute task to do, give them choices they can make to arrive at the solution. I also liked building projects, learning how to code and community service.
Nextech: Close us out with the best advice you have received.
Daniel: No matter what happens, keep pursuing your goal until you reach it.
