PD Workshops for High School CS

This workshop is intended for educators teaching Computer Science III: Cybersecurity (5253) or interested learning more about “what’s next?” for their students after Computer Science II.  Teachers will learn, at a high-level, the content in Derek Babb’s GitHub course as well as learn how to navigate the curriculum and its associated resources. Indiana educators will also have an opportunity to visit Central Indiana cybersecurity companies and departments to bridge classroom to career.

The topics covered in each workshop include:

  • Navigating GitHub
  • Understanding the curriculum and related resources
  • Learning the content for each of the 7 units (Ethics and Society, Security Principles, Classic Cryptography, Modern Cryptography, Malicious Software, Physical Security, Web Security)
  • Visiting cybersecurity companies and cybersecurity departments in Central Indiana

Pre-Requisites

  • Nextech Teachers must have: Completed a Nextech CS Principles program
    OR
    Completed a Nextech CS Discoveries program.
  • Non-Nextech Teachers must be:
    Registered for Nextech CS Principles in summer 2019
    OR
    Have taught a CS course in 18-19 and are teaching CS in 19-20
