What are your career goals?

My career goals are to get into a steady job as a developer at a tech company. While I feel like being a developer is what I would be good at, I am flexible and could see myself going into a different role.

What role has Nextech played in your goals / dreams for the future?

Nextech has helped me get closer to my goal of becoming a developer at a tech company. I had always wondered how websites work and Nextech really helped me understand them completely. I was also surprised with how much we were able to do during the program. We visited so many places and learned so much during the whole time. It helped me open my eyes to all the other opportunities available.

Which piece of technology or application has most impacted your life and why?

A piece of technology that has impacted me is my dad’s childhood Nintendo 64. I’m a gamer now and I remember the grand old days of staying up later watching my dad play the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. Even now, I’m a much bigger Zelda fan than even my dad was, and so those moments have greatly inspired me to be who I am today.

If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you move and why?

I would probably move to Japan. I have studied Japanese for three years now and find the culture there very interesting.

If you had to explain the Catapult Program to new students in one sentence, what would it be?

Catapult is about connecting and learning with many people who care

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?

I would have the ability of transformation, able to transform into anything I can imagine at a moments notice.

If you had the opportunity to visit a famous person (past or present), who would it be?

I would want to visit someone very intelligent, like Albert Einstein. I would ask them what it was like being so intelligent, and how they developed their ideas. I would want to know about all the ways they tested their ideas and how they faced adversity.

WWhat makes Nextech special?

Nextech really aspires to help the Catapults as much as possible. They give students an opportunity to learn in ways their schools may not offer and also connects them to the tech community in Indy in ways that really can help set someone’s future up. This program gave me a ton of connections to people in the tech industry as well as connections to the other Catapults. I grew to understand all of the ways that things function in the tech industry and it made me think about my future. I could really see myself working in the Indy tech scene.
