What an inspiring first week
April 20th, 2015
This time last week the Nextech team was preparing to officially launch and share our vision for bridging the gap between computer related employment opportunities and the number of students pursuing these opportunities. To say the response over the last week has been inspiring would be an understatement.
Thanks to the fantastic support from both the Indianapolis Business Journal and Inside Indiana Business, the Nextech story spread quickly. We were flooded with congratulatory notes across social media; the following are two of our favorite tweets.
I absolutely love the idea of @nextech in Indiana. Getting more young Hoosiers into the tech space is awesome. Well done @ScottDorsey! – @MatthewTyner
@ScottDorsey @nextech – Awesome – congratulations! Love the project. Tech changed my life – would love to pitch in and pay it forward. – @tkauble
In addition to the sharing the Nextech vision community wide, we took the time to reflect upon and celebrate the legacy of the ExactTarget Foundation. On Monday evening we gathered with those who shared in our journey the last 3 years as we donated over $410K to address issues of childhood hunger, education and entrepreneurship. We had a fantastic time celebrating both our past success and future vision!
On Tuesday morning, our partners at Code.org joined us for a breakfast with the leaders from our first cohort of schools. This was the first time we assembled the team and if ever we needed validation how much educators are thirsting for K-12 CS Education, we received it in spades on Tuesday morning. As one attendee put it, “I left the morning very excited that we are going to be working with you…our kids will love it!”
The week culminated with an invitation to participate on Inside Indiana Business with Gerry Dick. What a great honor to share just how huge the opportunity is and our vision for how Nextech will inspire and enable young people from all backgrounds to pursue careers in technology!
With such a great start to our journey, we are more eager than ever to dig in and turn our vision into a reality!
Here are just a few photos to showcase the many events of the week.
